Are you tired of your plain uniform?. Do you feel that it’s not sassy enough, or not strong enough? Well, we have the tips for you. The tips are not just for girls; they’re for boys too!!!.

For Girls

Accessorize.

1. Wear hair bands or clips to add style to your hair.

2. Wear cute colorful bangles that make people want to say “Oooooooooooooh”.

3. Wear jewelry such as earrings, necklaces, and braclets to put a smile on people’s faces.

4. Dash on some lip gloss to get your lips poppin’ but not a lot.

For Boys

  1. Add a little bling to your gear. When the sun shines on your bling, you’ll need to bust out a pair of shades.
  2. Sport some fly kicks.
  3. Spice up your uniform by adding a nice belt with a buckle with an image or slogan on it.

For Both

1. Wear a nice jacket to look cool and be warm.

So this this is a way you could buzz up your uniform. please comment.

Senator Barack Obama

On Feb. 5, 2008 Sen. Barack Obama and his wife Michelle made a surprise visit to Shoesmith School.  Are you wondering why he was here? Well, he wasn’t here bacause he just happened to be in the neighborhood.   Senator Barack Obama was here to vote in the Illinois primary.

Staff and students of Shoesmith School were excited and enthusiastic. Some of the intermediate classes made signs to welcome our special guest . But they were not the only ones. The primary students also showed their hard work and made signs.  In fact, it was the sign made by students in Room 100 that brought the Senator into the school.  The sign read:”Students in Room 100 love Senator Barack Obama”.  He entered the building looking for those students.

The energy in the building was amazing.  Everyone was trying to get close to the man who promises “CHANGE”, if elected. Lots of pictures were taken.  Lots of hugging and hand shaking took place.

One of the highlights of the day was when Jacqueline, the Editor in Chief, of the school literary magazine got an exclusive, close-up interview with him.   Jacqueline, asked him: “If you were to be elected for president how would you make the world a better place”? As a respone Sen. Obama said: “Well, I would try to improve the educational system and give out college scholarships , and try to have more pre-school(s) so within early childhood more children can get an early education”. Jacqueline was not able to ask a second question  but  her one question was just enough!

Now as the official Democractic Nominee “Obama” in my opinion has many great things in store for him. With the help of his fans Barack will (we can only hope)  pull through and win this election without a problem. GO! GO! GO! OBAMA!

Just What is Appropriate Dress for School? A Commentary

For the past few years, young men have been “sagging” a lot for fashion.  “Sagging” is wearing too big pants below the waist line–most times with no belt.

Nobody wants to see  these young men wearing there pants around their knees.  I mean, you can see their underwear–yuck. Most parents feel that boys shouldn’t sag and it’s very disrespectful.  Alot of adults feel that boys are getting it from the older men who “sag” on televison–especially music videos.

Now, on the other hand girls aren’t so perfect. Most parents complain about them too. Parents complain about them when girls wear too short shorts, too little skirts, and too too tight shirts.

I know some things are stylish, but come on.

What’s buzzin? People if you haven’t heard: the Shoesmith Softball team’s record is six wins; no losses. This is the first year Shoesmith has had a softball team. Led by coaches Ms. Reynolds and Mrs. K. Ramsey it’s sure to be a season to remember.

So far, the Shoesmith Honeybees are on a good winning streak . Let’s hope they keep the streak going.

The team is a co-ed team of 5th and 6th grade boys and girls. Each one brings a special talent to the team. Sam Nicholson, an outfielder is known for catching pop ups. So, is Nathaniel Blanton, center fielder and Brianna Hargrove, who catches balls in right field. The team has a few resident sluggers too. Quintin Schaffin, Sasha Ryan, Breanna Hargrove, Telly Jordan Marion and Nathaniel Blanton. In today’s game against Dolking Bulldogs, our team captain hit Nathaniel B. hit a grand slam. The crowd went wild. This season is turning out to be very exciting.

Do you think the streak will continue or will the streak be crushed? Post a comment.
